Those first hours pass in a blink
The flaky skin, the tiny curled fingers, the way they fit along your forearm — it changes within days. That's why we photograph newborns in the hospital, in your room, so none of it is missed.
There's nothing to book and nothing to bring. A gentle knock, fifteen quiet minutes, and hospital newborn photographs your family will pass down.
— the First Light team, Northern Virginia
No sales pressure
The session is free and stays free. Decide in the room, at home, or not at all. We put that pledge in writing.
Published prices
Every price is on this page and on a printed card left in your hospital room. No verbal-only quotes, ever.
Same-day preview
See your edited photos before you're discharged, then again at home in your private online gallery.
Gentle, short sessions
About fifteen minutes, at your bedside, following your nurses' lead. Baby never leaves the room.
How in-hospital newborn photography works
Nothing to book. If we're partnered with your hospital, we're already there.
A gentle knock
During daily rounds on the maternity floor, we knock and ask if you'd like photos. A simple "not today" is always fine.
Fifteen quiet minutes
A bedside session in soft natural light with your own blanket if you like. Parents welcome in the frame — even just your hands.
Same-day preview
Before discharge, we show you the edited photos and leave a printed price card. No decision needed in the room.
Your gallery, at home
A private gallery code goes home with you. Share it with family; orders stay open for 14 days.
First-hours gallery
The tiny details that only exist in the first days — feet, folds, knit bonnets, the first cuddle. Every photo shown is with written consent.

A patient-experience amenity with zero clinical burden
We offer every family on your postpartum floor a free bedside newborn portrait session — no booking, no cost to the hospital, and no work for your nurses beyond a yes or no from the patient.
Our written no-pressure pledge and published pricing exist to protect your patient-experience scores: families are never sold to at the bedside, so complaints never reach your nurse manager's desk.
Request the partnership packetFull compliance package

Questions about hospital newborn photos, answered plainly
Is the in-hospital session really free?
Yes. The bedside session and same-day preview cost nothing, with no deposit and no card on file. You only pay if you choose to order photos — and every price is published on this page.
How long do I have to order?
Your private gallery stays open for 14 days after your photos are uploaded — enough time to get home, settle in, and decide together. No decision is ever needed at the hospital.
What about NICU babies?
NICU families can request a session at discharge — just give us 48 hours' notice through the registration form or by email, and we'll coordinate with your care team so the session fits around them, not the other way round.
Do I have to buy anything?
No. Many families enjoy the session and buy nothing, and that's a perfectly good outcome. Our no-pressure pledge is written into our hospital contracts: no bedside selling, no follow-up calls, no countdown tactics.
Is my baby's photo ever shared without permission?
Never. Your gallery is private and code-protected, and we don't use any family's photos in our marketing without written consent you can revoke at any time. Your images belong to you.
Which hospitals do you work in?
We're a Northern Virginia company serving families across Virginia, Maryland and Washington DC, and we're actively building hospital partnerships across the region. Register your due date and hospital above and we'll confirm whether we'll be at your hospital before your due date.
What is "in-hospital" newborn photography, exactly?
It's a portrait session photographed in your hospital room during your maternity stay — usually on day one or two — rather than in a studio weeks later. The photos capture what newborns only look like in their first 48 hours. Read our full guide.
